On November 30, 2020, the National Academies announced that the second meeting of the Committee on U.S. Contributions to Global Ocean Plastic Waste will meet virtually on December 7, 2020 to “… examine the import and export of plastic waste to and from the U.S., as well as assess the prevalence of mismanaged plastic waste and the potential value of a national marine debris monitoring system. Our reason-for-being/goal/purpose/objective/intent is to convince/inspire/persuade/encourage the food processing industry to establish and fund a public private partnership for the discovery of new food packaging materials that would be digestible by animals (farm animals as well as ubiquitous microbes).
