Do Micro and Nano Plastic Particles Affect Human Health? – This question is being addressed by researchers from the Institute for Global Food Security at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB). See related article. The QUB are working as part of an international consortium funded by the European Commission. According to a June 13, 2019 QUB news release “… Microplastics … have recently been found in our soil, tap water, bottled water, beer and even in the air we breathe, with a growing concern about the potential health risks they pose … the European Commission will issue new drinking water legislation, due to be published in 2019, stating that water companies will need to measure concentrations of microplastics from within two years for positive release and inspection …” .
Animal Digestible Food Packaging Initiative
Our reason-for-being/goal/purpose/objective/intent is to convince/inspire/persuade/encourage the food processing industry to establish and fund a public private partnership for the discovery of new food packaging materials that would be digestible by animals (farm animals as well as ubiquitous microbes).
