Plastic Waste – Canada Plastic Pact (CPP) Launched

On January 27, 2021 leading Canadian businesses, NGOs and government agencies united “… behind 2025 targets to make packaging waste a thing of the past … [through the establishment of] the Canada Plastics Pact (CPP) … [which] is working towards four clear, actionable targets by 2025: Define a list of plastic packaging that is to be designated as problematic or unnecessary and take measures to eliminate them; Support efforts towards 100% of plastic packaging being designed to be reusable, recyclable or compostable; Undertake ambitious actions to ensure that at least 50% of plastic packaging is effectively recycled or composted; [and] Ensure an average of at least 30% recycled content across all plastic packaging (by weight) … Canada is the latest country to join the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Plastics Pact network, a globally-aligned response to plastic waste and pollution …” – The web link to the announcement is included in the post on the home page of Plastic Food Packaging Waste News at #PlasticWaste #Recycling
