According to a November 17, 2020 news release, the American Chemistry Council (ACC) “… called on Congress to work with industry to prioritize recycling legislation in 2021. ‘The plastics industry has set an ambitious goal of reusing, recycling or recovering 100% of plastic packaging in the U.S. by 2040. We look forward to working with Congress on ways to create more circular solutions for plastics. Our reason-for-being/goal/purpose/objective/intent is to convince/inspire/persuade/encourage the food processing industry to establish and fund a public private partnership for the discovery of new food packaging materials that would be digestible by animals (farm animals as well as ubiquitous microbes).
