On October 7, 2020 the Canadian government announced “… the next steps in … [its] plan to achieve zero plastic waste by 2030 … the Government proposes to ban … plastic checkout bags, straws, stir sticks, six-pack rings, cutlery, and food ware made from hard-to-recycle plastics … [The] plan also proposes improvements to recover and recycle plastic … [by] proposing to establish recycled content requirements in products and packaging … Comments will be accepted until December 9, 2020. Animal Digestible Food Packaging Initiative
Our reason-for-being/goal/purpose/objective/intent is to convince/inspire/persuade/encourage the food processing industry to establish and fund a public private partnership for the discovery of new food packaging materials that would be digestible by animals (farm animals as well as ubiquitous microbes).
