On September 24, 2020, the governor of California signed AB 793 into law – The bill requires “… every beverage container sold or offered for sale in this state to have a minimum refund value … plastic beverage containers … [are] to contain, on average, specified amounts of postconsumer recycled plastic content … moneys in the Recycling Enhancement Penalty Account [are] to be expended upon appropriation for the sole purpose of supporting the recycling, infrastructure, collection, and processing of plastic beverage containers … [The bill prohibits] a city, county, or other local government jurisdiction from adopting an ordinance regulating the minimum recycled plastic content requirements for plastic beverage containers …” - The web links to the news release and bill are included in the post on the home page of Plastic Food Packaging Waste News at https://pfpw.news/2020/09/26/pfpw-news-september-26-2020/
