In response to the July 2019 IFT Food Technology magazine cover article “Taming the Tsunami of Plastic Waste”, Jack Cooper submitted the following “Letter to the Editor” , on behalf of the Animal Digestible Food Packaging Initiative www.adfpi.org on July 21.
IFT and author Dale Buss are to be commended for prominently bringing the plastic waste “Tsunami” to the attention of IFT members. While restaurants, processors and marketers are separately seeking solutions, wouldn’t it be more efficient if they worked together through a public private partnership (PPP) including such Federal funding agencies as FFAR https://foundationfar.org/? – A PPP board would be able to secure research funding and establish research priorities and application procedures.
